your google profile is half empty

Most local businesses have a half-empty Google profile. Here’s the one-hour fix that puts you ahead of them.

Hi,

Quick one today.

I look at local businesses on Google Maps a lot. Plumbers, dentists, restaurants, roofers. And most of them have the same problem.

Their Google profile is half empty.

A name. A phone number. Maybe one photo from 2019. That’s it.

Here’s why that hurts. Google is a robot. It reads your profile to work out two things: what you do and where you do it. If you give it scraps, it guesses. And when Google guesses, it usually shows someone else.

So fill it in. All of it. Here’s where I’d start:

  1. Pick the right main category. “Roofing contractor” beats “Contractor”. Be as specific as Google allows.

  2. List every service you offer. One by one. Not just the big ones.

  3. Add the areas you serve. Beauharnois, Salaberry-de-Valleyfield, wherever your customers actually are.

  4. Write a real description. Plain words. What you do, who you do it for and where.

  5. Upload fresh photos. Your work, your team, your shop. Real ones, not stock.

That’s about an hour of work. It costs nothing.

And most of your competitors won’t do it. That’s the whole advantage.

Do it this week. Then check back in a month and see where you show up.

Mikael
